How to Make Your Cheap Office Chair Comfortable

Most office goers are not happy with their office chairs. One of the common complaints we hear is that their workstation chair is a cheap one and is not as comfortable as it should be. While there is little that you can do about it, you can use a few hacks to render your chair more comfortable and suitable for long working hours.

One of the reasons why employees are not happy with their office chair is that when buying office furniture fit out, businesses buy chairs in bulk. Since no consideration is given to an individual's needs when buying the chairs, employees often feel that the chair fails to meet their specific requirements. The following tricks will make the cheap office chair more conducive to work:

  • Use the built-in height adjustment lever to adjust the chair height. Ideally, your feet have to rest on the ground, and your knees should be at the same level as your hips. Also, ensure that you can rest comfortably against the back of the chair.
  • If your feet are dangling, as is the case with short people, get a cardboard box so that you can rest your feet on it.
  • If you are a tall person, your knees may not rest at the same level as your thighs. Get a comfortable cushion and place it on your chair seat to raise the chair height by an inch or two.
  • If you find that you are not able to rest your spine along the back of the chair, your best bet would be a lumbar support pillow. It will help you lean back and maintain proper posture when using the keyboard.
  • If the keyboard height is too steep for you, you have to raise the height of the chair even further. A footrest at this juncture will help to maintain a comfortable posture.
  • If you have to look down at the monitor of the laptop or desktop screen, place a few thick books under the laptop or monitor stand. This will protect you from straining your neck when looking at the screen.
Whether it is a chair used behind the reception counters in Sydney or is a part of home office furniture, the chair often gets the short end of the stick. The above tips will help you in altering the chair to meet your specific requirement and are comfortable with it, even when working long hours.
